Practical Design of the Acoustic Guitar and Similar Instruments - Online Annex

Online Annex

There is always some amount of useful information that is subject to change frequently. Inclusion of such information in a printed book means that this information quickly becomes out of date. In this book all such information is put in an online annex that is referenced by the printed book. In this way the information can be kept up to date.

Note to commercial suppliers of instrument plans: Want to see your offerings listed here or change the blurb I have here for you? Contact me.

Instrument Plans

To make use of the brace scaling techniques described in the book requires a plan for one of the conventional guitars that contains brace dimensions. I have a couple of plans available for free download on this site. Here are some others you may be interested in.

"Parlor" guitar (12 fret)

A lot of different Romantic period guitars will approximately fit the parlor guitar initialization provided by "G" Thang, and there are some small bodied 20th century guitars that fit the bill as well.

The Guild of American Luthiers has a nice plan for a Mid-19th Century Martin Guitar (Plan #57) available on their site.

Classical guitar (12 fret)

Note that most classical guitars are approximately the same size, so most any plan you get will work fine.

There is one you can download from this site for free. Go to this page and scroll down to download the plan.
